The Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Stuttgart is committed to making its digital services accessible to everyone.

This accessibility statement applies to the scientific collection and dataset landing pages provided at https://lp.smns-bw.org/.

Compliance status

The basic navigation and essential content have been designed with keyboard access, semantic structure, sufficient contrast, text enlargement and the use of assistive technologies in mind.

The landing pages include, among other features:

• a semantic page and heading structure,
• a link for skipping repeated page elements,
• visible keyboard focus indicators,
• alternative text for relevant images,
• an optional high-contrast display mode,
• an optional Easy Language version for selected content,
• responsive presentation at increased zoom levels and on narrow displays,
• machine-readable dataset metadata.

A complete manual accessibility assessment of all content, downloads and linked resources has not yet been completed.

Known accessibility limitations

Legacy and imported content

Some scientific descriptions have been imported from older systems. They may contain complex sentence structures, unexplained scientific terminology, abbreviations or link descriptions that are not sufficiently informative.

These contents will be reviewed and improved gradually as part of our editorial maintenance.

Images and scientific illustrations

Alternative text is provided for gallery images where a suitable description is available. Alternative text for some older images may still be missing or incomplete.

Complex scientific illustrations cannot always be described fully by a short alternative text. We will provide additional information on request wherever possible.

Downloads and research data

Linked research data, archives, spreadsheets, XML files, PDF documents and other scientific file formats may not be fully accessible.

Some of these formats are intended primarily for machine processing and scientific reuse and may not provide an immediately accessible visual representation.

External services

The landing pages contain links to external services and data portals such as GBIF, GFBio, LAND and other scientific platforms. We do not have full control over the accessibility of these external websites.

Easy Language

An Easy Language version is available only on landing pages for which a corresponding version has been prepared and reviewed.
